This is always a hit at parties. Many people have bad reactions to burboun because of the conuquers (headache, hangover, indigestion).

A party-pitcher's worthEdit

  • 1 magnum (1.75L) burboun (Watkins or Evan Williams)
  • 5 limes
  • 1 packed pint of mint (2-3 oz)
  • Simple syrup to taste (1-3 cups)
  1. In a 3+ quart pitcher, pour in the burboun
  2. Cut the ends of the limes and cut into 1/6ths, squeeze all wedges into the pitcher and throw the spent lime flesh in as well
  3. Roll the Mint stems in your hands to bruise thouroughly, throw them in the pitcher
  4. Obtain simple syrup or make it in the microwave: In a microwavable ceramic/glass container combine 2 cups sugar with 1 cup hot water. Stir thoroughly, and place in the microwave on high for 1 minute.
  5. Taste the lime/mint infused burboun, add more lime/mint if necessary.
  6. Add the simple syrup to taste
  7. Pour 4 ounces over ice to each of your guests.

Makes 20 4 ounce servings.

For one servingEdit

  • 1 old fashioned glass
  • 2 oz burboun
  • 2/6 of a lime
  • 20 leaves of mint or about 3-4 6-inch stems worth
  • 1/4 oz 2:1 simple syrup or 1 package sugar-free sweetener
  1. Cut a lime into sixths, squeeze two into the glass, and throw in the rinds
  2. Pick 3-4 stems of mint, not wilted, with large leaves, fold them in half and roll back and forth between your hands about 5 times, throw those into the glass.
  3. Pour the brouboun over your greens
  4. Add the sweetener (simple syrup)
  5. Roll the glass or stir with a fork
  6. Add 3-6 cubes of ice, and roll or stir again.

For a few guestsEdit

For 2-4 servings, multiply the one serving recipe and make in a drink shaker instead of in a glass. Put half a shaker's full of ice in at the beginning, and shake vigorously at the end. Pour over old fashioned glasses half-filled with ice.
